Geothermal Energy Geothermal Energy is energy produced by heat from Earth's interior. An example of geothermal energy is a geyser (The hot water from it.) It heats rock formation deep within the ground. Groundwater absorbs this heat and forms hot springs geysers where the water reaches Earth's surface. Geothermal energy is used to produce energy as heat and electricity. Geothermal Energy can be used to warm and cool buildings.A closed loop system of pipes runs from underground into the heating system of a home or building. Water pumped through these pipes absorbs heat from the ground and is us...

Solar Energy How does it work? Solar Energy is Energy received at Earth, by radiation from the sun. When the sun's rays hit solar panels, that can be placed on roofs or other places that are exposed to the sun, the panels generate the solar energy into energy that can power buildings. Advantages of this energy source... A few advantages are that solar energy is a renewable energy source, which means it will never run out in our lifetime. Solar energy will stay renewable until the end of the world. It is constant, so we can have it as long as the suns rays are hitting the solar panels, and it can power homes. Disadvantages of this energy source... A few disadvantages are that solar panels are expensive, so they are hard to get and use. Also, If there is no light or sun, like at night time, you can't use Solar panels, because no rays are hitting the Solar Panels. You would need an alternative energy source, like geothermal energy, to have power all day, every day.

Biofuels Biofuels (or biomass) is the organic matter from plants and animal wastes that contains chemical energy. This chart shows in green the amount of total renewable resources=10% and amount of biofuels=27%!!!! This is the cycle of how biofuels are created!!! DISADVANTAGES & ADVANTAGES Even though biofuels are a renewable resource, they also have some disadvantages. When biofuels burn, they produce pollution into the air. Also, biomass is very expensive and does not fuel are sources of transportation as long as oil does so many people don't use it. However, biofuels also have many advantages. Biomass can cook food, warm up our houses, and power an engine. Also, even though biofuels are created by burning plants, animal wastes, trees, and peat the plants can grow back.

NUCLEAR ENERGY Nuclear energy works in two ways. From fusion and fission. Fusion is the combining of nucleus of atoms to create energy. Fission is the nuclei of radioactive atoms that are split into two or more fragments. Two advantages of nuclear energy is that it creates large amounts of energy to use and it doesn't cause and pollution because nothing is being burned. Two disadvantages of nuclear energy is that it produces dangerous waste that remains radioactive for thousands of years. The other disadvantage is that harmful radiation can be released in the process of making nuclear energy.
